Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coatings are known for their ability to withstand extreme temperatures and offer thermal barrier properties. The end result is dramatically reduced radiant heat decreasing under the hood temperatures, accelerated exhaust gas velocity and longer life expectancy. Reducing temperatures helps to protect your investment while increasing the performance, appearance, and value of your ride. Ceramic coatings are recommended on parts that are exposed to extreme high temperatures and can be applied to most metal surfaces such as steel, aluminum, and cast iron with the exception of magnesium.

    Benefits of Ceramic Coating:

  • - Prevent corrosion of exhaust systems and engine components
  • - Increase part longevity 2 – 10 times
  • - Resistant to rust and chipping
  • - Increase in engine performance
  • - Provide thermal insulation
  • - Improves appearance and value
  • - Decrease under hood temperatures, adding performance and long life expectancy for other engine components
Powder Coating

Powder coating is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin that is electrostatically applied to the surface to be coated. The charged powder particles adhere to the surface of the part and then they are heated and fused in a curing oven. The end result is a uniform, durable, and high quality finish.
Powder coating is protective of the environment, unlike liquid finishes; powder coating contains no solvents which contain pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOC). Powder coating has high material utilization minimizing waste and disposal costs and it is not considered a hazardous waste.

    Benefits of Powder Coating:

  • - Available in a vast array of colors, finishes, and textures
  • - Resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, corrosion, and wear
  • - Stronger than paint
  • - Emits near zero VOC
  • - Varied textures hide surface imperfections
  • - Looks better and lasts longer
Sand Blasting

Do you have parts that need to be cleaned up?

At Rocket Coatings we blast the majority of parts that we coat. We have a Mod-U-Blast industrial pressure cabinet and use 80g Garnett media that leaves an excellent profile for maximum adhesion of paints and primers. Our cabinet can handle parts up to 6 feet in length. Most often your parts are ready to go the next day.

FAQ

Rocket Coatings gets a lot of questions. Here are some of the most common.

What kind of temperature reduction can be expected if I where to coat my exhaust ?
You can expect approximately 30% reduction in radiated heat from a coated part.

Will coating my headers make them last longer?
Yes, you can expect your headers to last 2-10 times longer than if they were left uncoated.

Will my slip fit parts still fit back together after they are coated?
Yes, your parts will still go back together ceramic coatings are a very thin film (.001"-.0015").

Do I need to mask threads before coating?
Your ability to bolt your threaded parts back together will not be affected.

Can I coat my used parts and do I need to clean them before sending them to be coated?
Yes, your used parts can be coated. You will need to disassemble and do your best to degrease your parts before sending them for coating.

What metals can you coat?
We can coat pretty much any metal that can withstand the cure temperature (500f) galvanized and magnesium parts can not be done.

What length can you coat?
6ft is the longest length we are capable of coating.
